From the Pastor's Desk

Despite Satan’s efforts to undermine it, the Ash Wednesday Service by God’s grace was a big success. We had great attendance. Every one of our “My Most Wanted Devotional” books were tak-en. And the Congregation made a covenant to pray 40 days for the lost. The Bible says that “the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost (Luke 19:10). It also says that God “wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). When we pray for someone to embrace the truth of the gospel and receive the gift of salvation in Jesus we are praying God’s most wanted list.

We also as a Congregation made a commitment to make the 40 days of Lent a season of spiri-tual preparation, to observe a holy Lent: by self-examination and repentance; by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and meditating on God’s Holy Word.

It is my prayer that God during this season of celebration and preparation will speak to each of us in a real personal way. God speaks uniquely to individuals, and He can do it in any way He pleases. In our Experiencing God Bible Study we learn that He speaks today primarily by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances and the church.

It is my prayer that as we walk in an intimate love relationship with God during this season of Lent each of us will come to recognize His voice and receive the guidance and direction each of us are seeking. And I am praying for this not only for each of us as individuals, but also for us as a Congregation. We are going through and will be going through a lot of major adjustments in our church in the next few months and we need God’s guidance. And I believe that He is leading us and that He’s got wonderful things in store for us!
