From the Pastor...

Summer is about over now. We are gearing up for our fall Bible studies and there is a lot of good stuff offered. Every church member has the responsibility to grow through study and become a more fruitful disciple of Jesus Christ. We encourage you to invite your neighbors and friends to come with you and join in one of the many Bible studies that are being offered. It makes no difference what church they belong to or if they belong to any church at all. We are called to make disciples and reach the entire world for Jesus Christ beginning with Greenwood.

WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY BEGINS AUGUST 18TH
5:15 – 5:45pm – Meals ($5 for adults, $2.50 for children & young, max of $15.00 per family)
5:45 – 7:00pm - Methodist Melodies & Kid’s Korner starts up again.
5:45 – 7:00pm - Youth Bible Study
5:45 – 7:00pm – Adult Bible Studies…. (2)
LEARNING HOW TO PRAY (This is a six-week adventure in prayer and learning how to pray more effectively. We will be using Maxie Dunnam’s workbook of Living Prayer. Cost is $9 and I will be leading it.)

MARRIAGE: BUILT TO LAST (A six session video-driven Bible study by Chip Ingram, Dave Ramsey and Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner and his wife Brenda. I have watched some of these videos and it is good. Tom & Anne Flanagan will be your host for this study. It also comes with a workbook. Please call church office and sign up so we can be sure we have enough workbooks. More detail will be in your church bulletin.)

THURSDAY, AUGUST 19TH, MEN’S FRATERNITY BIBLE STUDY NO 2: WINNING AT WORK & HOME will meet at 6:00 a.m. every Thursday for 16 weeks. Dr. Robert Lewis’ videos for this study are powerful and life changing. There is a workbook but no homework. For most men happiness and satisfaction in life are locked up in two words—work and home. This study gives you a game plan for winning in both arenas. You’ll get the tools you need to build (or rebuild) your confidence; expand your vision; develop successful life strategies; and improve your performance in your relationship with your wife or girlfriend, in your relationships with your children, and in your job. Please men invite other men to come. It will change their life. We will get you out by 7:00 a.m. in time to go to work.

DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY BEGINS MONDAY, AUGUST 23RD (This is a 34 week study of the Bible. There will be videos and a workbook. The goal of DISCIPLE is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ who know and love God’s Word. If you have ever wanted to read the whole Bible this is your opportunity. There will to two sessions offered on Mondays. One Study at 9:00 a.m. and one Study at 6:00 p.m. Call the church office and sign up for the time best for you. Our Associate Pastor Veronica Pritchard will be leading this study.)

Please pray for each one of these studies. And spread the news and information about them around your family and friends. Please invite someone to one or more of these Bible study. This is part of our mission to reach out and win persons to Jesus Christ, to assimilate them into the family of God, to train and equip persons for the work of discipleship, and to transform the world for Jesus by making faithful disciples.
